Which foot do you use to take your first step each day?

Most of us shuffle along, one foot in front of the other, not realizing that every step we take and every decision we make shapes the way our lives unfold. We keep going, but how do we really want to be moving forward?

We all want to feel happy and we’ve created moments in life that allow us to stop and appreciate what we have, so we can feel good. A few of these moments happen on days where we commit to something greater than ourselves and focus our attention on something we value. We get to celebrate love on Valentine’s Day, we get to honour our Mom and Dad or get to feel appreciated as parents on Mothers and Fathers Day, and we get to remember those who sacrificed their lives for us on Remembrance Day.

These all become welcome breaks to our day-to-day autopilot. These days allow us to stop, reflect and fully embrace what is really important.

#GivingTuesday is one of these days. It’s an opportunity to give back and make a difference as a global community. We get to stop in our paths, take a minute and decide how we want to take our next step. And just like any other day, we get to keep doing what we usually do, except we just take a moment and commit ourselves to an act of generosity – whatever that may be.

Let the next step you take today be towards helping make positive change in the world. There are a lot of people on the same journey. Today, we all become part of a collective movement for good. And it’s a step in the right direction.
